On Windows and iOS, you can set the theme to light, dark, or system default. The macOS app has no Appearance setting. It uses the system appearance of your Mac.

Open the appearance settings

Go to Settings → Appearance.The Theme card gives three options:

Change the theme

Select the radio button for the option that you want. The Restart Required dialog appears:
The application needs to restart for the theme change to take effect. Do you want to restart now?
  • To save the theme and restart now, select Yes.
  • To cancel, select No. HyperWhisper keeps the previous theme and saves nothing.
The restart is necessary by design. HyperWhisper does not apply a new theme while it runs. It asks you to restart. If you select No, HyperWhisper keeps the previous theme and saves nothing.

Where HyperWhisper saves the theme

HyperWhisper saves the theme in %LOCALAPPDATA%\HyperWhisper\settings.json. The theme stays the same after updates and restarts.
