What are HyperWhisper Cloud credits?
Credits pay for the HyperWhisper Cloud hosted transcription service. HyperWhisper Cloud subtracts credits from your balance for each transcription. The number of credits depends on the length of the audio. The default Deepgram Nova 3 tier costs about 5.5 credits for each minute of audio. 5,000 credits cost 0.001 for each credit. At 5.5 credits for each minute, cloud transcription costs about $0.0055 per minute. You spend credits only when you select a HyperWhisper Cloud provider. BYOK providers use your own API key, and they do not spend credits. HyperWhisper Cloud needs an account key for every request. There is no free trial and no anonymous use. You do not buy the key separately. Your first credit purchase (from $5) creates a key and sends it to you by email. This key is your Cloud account, your credit wallet, and your license key. After you enter the key, the app shows Active / Licensed – Full Access.Credits belong to your account key, not to one device. You can use the credits on every machine where you enter that key.
Local transcription is unlimited
On-device use has no limits. You can record for as long as you want and as often as you want. You can also download as many local models as you want. All of this is free, and you do not need an account. HyperWhisper is open source, so on-device transcription has no paywall. You spend money only when you select HyperWhisper Cloud for hosted transcription. You pay for HyperWhisper Cloud with prepaid credits, as described above.How to buy HyperWhisper Cloud credits
To add credits, open the HyperWhisper Cloud panel from the app sidebar or from Settings → HyperWhisper Cloud. Click Purchase Credits to open the checkout page in your browser. If you do not have an account key yet, this button shows Get Credits.1

Choose an amount and complete checkout
Select a preset amount (10), or enter a whole-dollar amount from 500. If you do not have an account key yet, enter your email address. HyperWhisper sends your new key to that address. Checkout adds a 6% processing fee on top of the credit value. This fee is not refundable, and the checkout page shows it as a separate line item before you pay. You can use promotion codes. This is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. A 14-day money-back guarantee covers the credit value that you did not spend. For the details, read the refund policy on hyperwhisper.com.

Receive your account key
If this is your first purchase, HyperWhisper sends your new account key by email to the address that you entered. This key is your credit wallet and your license. If you already have a key, HyperWhisper adds the credits to the balance of that key.
How to activate an existing account key

Open Settings → HyperWhisper Cloud
From the menu bar (macOS) or tray (Windows), open Settings → HyperWhisper Cloud.

Paste your account key
Paste the key from your purchase confirmation email into the key field.

Click Activate
HyperWhisper checks the key online. The app then shows Active / Licensed – Full Access and the credit balance of that key.
How to manage your billing
After your account key is active, a Manage Billing button appears in Settings → HyperWhisper Cloud on macOS and on Windows. This button opens your billing dashboard at hyperwhisper.com/user. On the dashboard you can do these tasks:- See your remaining cloud credit balance
- See your purchase history
- When your balance is low, buy more cloud credits
- Update your payment method
The Manage Billing button appears only when you have an active account key. If you do not have a key yet, go to hyperwhisper.com/user directly. You can also buy credits at hyperwhisper.com/credits to get a key.
Using your account key on more than one machine
One account key is for your personal use on the machines that you own, for example a desktop and a laptop. There is no fixed limit on the number of devices. But the key belongs to your account, and you must not give it to other people. If you want to use HyperWhisper in a team or on many machines, write to hi@support.hyperwhisper.com about volume licensing.How to move to a new Mac or PC
There is no activation limit for each device. Your account key does not belong to one machine. Deactivation removes the key only from that device. There are no device “slots” to free — the server does record a device ID against your key on each validation, but only for fair-usage monitoring, not to enforce a device count. When you replace a device or sell an old one, use these steps:1
Deactivate on the old machine (recommended)
On the machine that you leave, open Settings → HyperWhisper Cloud → Deactivate. That machine then no longer stores your key.

Install HyperWhisper on the new machine
Download the app from hyperwhisper.com.

Activate with the same key
On the new machine, paste your account key in Settings → HyperWhisper Cloud.
